Beyond High School FAQ
  1. What’s a certificate program?
A certificate program prepares students to sit for a state exam and earn an industry certification, such as the Ohio Nurse Assistant or Licensed Practical Nurse. Certificate programs can help you upgrade your skills for your present career, by providing you with a required certification needed to advance, and also help you to begin a new career. For example, if you have worked in manufacturing for a number of years and want to move into health care, certificate programs are available to help you gain skills and certifications needed to change careers. Warren County Career Center and Butler Tech both offer certificate programs through Greentree Health Science Academy. If you want to advance to a college, the certifications you have earned will count toward your degree as articulated college credit. Each institution has its own guidelines as to how many credits you may have earned.

  2. What’s a degree program?  What health-related degree programs does Miami offer?
A degree program is a structured and sequenced set of courses and requirements leading to a degree at the undergraduate or graduate level. Miami University’s Department of Nursing currently offers a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, RN to BSN Completion Program and School Nurse Licensure Program. Miami also partners with Cincinnati State Technical College to offer associate degrees in Respiratory Care Technology and Health Information Management (available on-line).

  3. I just lost my job and need to upgrade my skills. Can Greentree help me?
With the projections by the state and federal departments of Job and Family Services, getting into health care can be your smartest career move. There are many job openings, and the more certifications and degrees you earn in the field, the more job opportunities you will have. And it is not just limited to nursing. If heightened job security is your goal, then Greentree would be an excellent choice.

  4. I’m thinking about a health care career even though I’ve never worked in health care. Is Greentree right for me?
One of Greentree’s strengths is the range of options that it offers, from a variety of institutions. Whether you are interested in nursing, respiratory care technology, health information management or many other health care fields, Greentree can get you started toward your goal. Our counselors will talk with you and can administer skills assessment tests to make sure you are prepared to take the step into a health care career.

  5. Can I take advantage of Greentree’s programs even if I don’t have a high school diploma or GED?
