
A career in health information management (HIM) places you right at the intersection of health care and cutting-edge technology. HIM professionals collect, maintain and analyze the data that doctors, nurses and other decision makers rely on to deliver quality health care. As an HIM professional, you’ll enjoy a broad selection of job opportunities and options for professional growth.
Graduates of this program will be prepared to manage health information; administer computer information systems and code diagnoses and procedures for health care services provided to patients. HIM professionals work in a multitude of settings throughout the health care industry including hospitals, physician offices and clinics, long-term care facilities, insurance companies, government agencies and home care providers. The HIM program is accredited by the Commission Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM)
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of health information technicians is expected to grow much faster than average for all occupations through 2014. Starting salaries range from $27,000-34,000 per year.
Students in this program will complete 29 hours of coursework from Miami University Regionals, transfer to Cincinnati State Technical College and complete the HIM coursework through web-based courses in the convenience of their own home.
